Shade sail cleaning specialists who actually know Queensland weather

Deep cleaning • Mould removal • Safe for all fabrics • Quick turnaround • Family-owned

Look, we get it, shade sails cop a beating across South East Queensland. Between the humidity, bird droppings, and that lovely green tinge that appears after every wet season, they can get pretty grotty. That’s where JC Eco Blasting comes in.

We’re a local family-owned business servicing the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Northern Rivers. We’ve cleaned everything from the pristine sails at Sanctuary Cove to the battle-worn ones at Tweed Heads cafés. We use a gentle pressure system that won’t blow holes through your fabric (yes, that’s a real risk with DIY cleaning), combined with eco-conscious solutions that actually kill mould instead of just moving it around.

Why bother with professional shade sail cleaning?

Because that mould isn’t just ugly, it’s eating your fabric and making you sneeze

Here’s what most people don’t realise: those dark patches on your shade sail aren’t just dirt. They’re living organisms that are literally digesting the fabric fibres. Every time it rains, those spores multiply and dig deeper. We’ve seen $3,000 shade sails need replacing after just two years because the owners tried to “save money” with a garden hose and some bleach.

Our cleaning process doesn’t just make your sails look better, it actually stops the rot. We use biodegradable solutions that kill mould spores without weakening the fabric, then rinse everything away with controlled pressure that won’t stretch or tear the material.

Shade sail cleaning for every property type. From backyard BBQ areas to beachfront restaurants, if it provides shade, we clean it.

We’ve cleaned shade sails everywhere from Mermaid Beach mansions to the playground at your kids’ school. Each job’s different, that café in Broadbeach with the salt spray problem needs different treatment than the pool area in Kingscliff covered in jacaranda stains. We adjust our approach based on what your sails are dealing with.

Got a brand new sail that just needs a freshen up? We’ll be gentle. Got a 10-year-old workhorse that looks like it’s been through a war? We’ve got techniques for that too.

The best part? We clean them right where they hang, no need to take them down and risk damaging the tensioning.

The benefits of choosing JC Eco Blasting

Local knowledge, proper equipment, and we actually answer our phones

We’re not some franchise with a call centre in Sydney, we’re locals who deal with the same weather you do. We know why sails in Runaway Bay get saltier than ones in Nerang, and why anything near a poinciana tree turns orange.

Our gear is specifically chosen for South East Queensland conditions, not too harsh for UV-weakened fabrics, but strong enough to shift that stubborn green algae. We show up when we say we will (novel concept, right?), give you a proper quote that doesn’t mysteriously inflate, and we’re still around if you need us next year.

Plus, our cleaning solutions won’t kill your garden when they run off, because we live here too and we’d like to keep it nice.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I actually clean these things?

Most sails need a proper cleaning every 6 to 12 months. If you’re near the coast or under trees, maybe every 4 to 6 months. If you see dark patches, green tinges, or it smells musty when wet, it’s time.

What exactly do I get, and what's it going to cost me?

When we arrive, we’ll inspect the sails first. Then we apply our mould-killing solution, let it dwell, and rinse with low pressure. We clean both sides and all edges. Because each sail, home, and setup is different, we’ll give you a proper quote once we’ve assessed the job.

Do I need to take the sails down?

Nope! We clean sails in place using extension poles and low-pressure tools. Much safer for the sail and your setup.

Is this going to wreck my sails or void the warranty?

Not with us. We use the right equipment and techniques recommended by manufacturers like Rainbow Shade and Shadeland. If your sail is structurally sound, we’ll clean it safely.

Can't I just blast it with my pressure washer from Bunnings?

You could, but many people end up tearing stitching, stripping coatings, or falling off ladders. We’re fully insured, trained for working at height, and use professional-grade mould treatments.

What kind of gunk can you actually get off?

Mould, algae, bird poo, bat droppings, tree sap, flowering stains, you name it. The only tough ones are rust and very old stains baked in by the sun, but even those we can usually improve.
